CICYTEX is a public center for Food and Farming research based in the Extremadura region (western Spain). It is composed of four institutes that address the research needs of a diversity of farming systems and at all stages of the food chain with a multidisciplinary vision. Finca La Orden Institute is focused on crops and livestock production (fruit and arable crops, vegetables, biofuels, pig, cattle and sheep breeding). The Center for Organic and Mountain Agriculture (CAEM) is specialized in mountain crops from the perspective of biodiversity and water management, sustainable pest control as well as promoting agroecological management. Most of the work is developed in a participatory approach with local stakeholders through co-creation and direct knowledge transfer.
