The Kick-off meeting of the project was held on 15-16 May 2023 at the University of Coimbra (Portugal) and we are happy to say that it was a success!
More than 50 people came to Coimbra or connected online to our hybrid KoM to kick-start this amazing project! In an intense two-day event that included multiple speeches, workshops, discussions, but also… the picturesque character of beautiful Coimbra, the partners laid the foundations for the successful completion of the project.
On the GOOD KoM, five international guests presented their organizations/alliances and activities: (i) Mr. Matthias Geck, who is agroecological systems scientist in CIFOR-ICRAF, presented the Transformative Partnership Platform on Agroecology (TPP), (ii) Mr. Oliver Oliveros presented the Agroecology Coalition, of which he is coordinator, (iii) Dr. Georgina Catacora-Vargas presented the Latin American Scientific Society of Agroecology (SOCLA), of which she is president, (iv) Dr. Edmundo Gallo presented the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) from Brazil, and (v) Dr. Maria do Ceu Madureira presented the project Tesouros d’ Obo in S. Tome.
All talks were constructive, as GOOD partners had the opportunity to hear lessons and experiences on agroecology from Latin America and Africa. This information will help the GOOD project to better design its methodologies and assist the transition towards agroecology in Europe, building on knowledge from other continents.
